Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with a deity, through deliberate communication. Intercessory Prayer Ministry, led by Sis. Nelva Walker, is a ministry at SJMBC in which designated members are assigned a different day of the week to pray for the healing and the strength of our congregation. We pray for others because we care and we’re receptive to their needs. Prayer should be the essential part of our daily lives. It’s the kick-start of our day. We should wake up daily thanking God for breathing breath in our bodies one more day. ” No weapons formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17. Prayer is the weapon that contains satan. Although our intercessors pray on an individual basis, as a group our praises go up to the highest power and rain down blessings on our members, our community, our family and friends.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. Psalms 4:1
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:2
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16
